HALLOWEEN MESSAGE FROM THE SHRIMPS PROTEST GROUP (THE HEADSTONE ON THE RIGHT REFERS TO WORCESTER WARRIORS).

The Shrimps Protest Group

I’ve heard rumours recently that a new group has been set-up by Morecambe fans to take direct action concerning the stalemate concerning the current ownership situation.

I’ve heard and read on social media concerns that this new organisation – The Shrimps Protest Group – could usurp the work of the Shrimps Trust or behave in other ways which could bring the club itself into disrepute (with the fear of sanctions from the EFL) or even break the law. It seems to me that – ideally – the new group should work hand-in-glove with the Trust and the Board of the club to ensure these things don’t happen- or at least are less likely to. But I personally applaud their efforts to bring the plight of our club to a wider audience and show the EFL that not all Shrimps’ supporters are utterly complacent individuals who are prepared to be treated like mushrooms: kept in the dark and fed you-know-what by Jason Whttingham and his hateful Bond Group. Putting my Political Head on, Non-Violent Direct Action has always been a good idea – whether it’s protesting against apartheid; resisting the Poll Tax or kicking the Oystons out of Blackpool Football Club. But enough about what I think. Here, in their own words are what the group are about; what they have already done and what they intend to achieve in the near future. You can find them on Facebook:

As many of you will have seen, we are a newly formed group of Morecambe fans who have had enough of Jason Whittingham’s lies around the sale of our club.

Here is a list of all of the action we have taken against Jason so far:

Friday 1st November:

We visited the EFL Offices and Lancashire FA building to spread awareness about Bond Group’s damage to our club & community.

In the evening, we put up banners across town to show that we’ve had enough of Jason’s lies. We were here long before Jason, and will be here long after he finally goes.

Saturday 2nd November: We took a trip down to the home of Bond Group and Jason Whittingham, Buckhurst Hill. We put posters up all over the town with his name and face on them, to show his local community what he has done to both our club and Worcester Warriors.

Sunday 3rd November:

Today we announced to the world what we’d been up to earlier in the week. We sent out letters to Jason’s neighbours and local businesses in Buckhurst Hill showing the many failures of Bond Group’s ownership of Morecambe FC. Jason and Bond Group are ruining our community, so we thought we should let their community know.

After over 2 years up for sale with no end in sight, we felt that action against Jason was long overdue. It is vital that we continue to keep the pressure on Bond Group to sell the club to a reputable buyer as soon as possible.

We have solid plans in place for a strong protest against our owner on the 16th November at our home game against Port Vale. We will post further information in the coming days.”
